After speaking and showing the new Weyrwoman around the Weyr, Sanzia took off back to her office. Tapping one of the many Weyrbrats on her way back to her office she sent him off to the kitchens to find the Headcook, Tairalese.
She and Tairalese had, in Sanzia's mind, a pleasant working relationship, but nothing more. While cooking was a very important part of the Weyr, and a great deal of Sanzia's relatives worked there, her relationship with the Headcook was rather distant. Perhaps, in honor of all the chances occurring, Sanzia pondered, she should work on becoming closer to the Headcook. If she remembered her gossip correctly, and she always did, Tairalese had lost her Weyrmate to Thread, and probably needed another friend at this point.
Checking to make sure her clothing(the same yellow and black shirt she'd used to meet the new Weyrwoman, but loose white pants instead of her white skirt), was still presentable, Sanzia arrived in her office, and took a seat. She needed to remove the chair she had placed in her office for the Weyrwoman, but that could wait for now. Perhaps it was time to check the furnishings in the counsel rooms so that Quinn would have her own meeting room apart from her rooms. But again, tomorrow.
Picking up her inventory lists, she began to read, waiting for Tairalese to arrive.

Tairalese had a busy day in the kitchens but had come across an order for a rather large cake with lots of icing and flowers and so, like all beautiful baking orders, she took it into her own hands. She was wearing her usual clothing and put on her white cooking apron with few pockets in the front for the various cooking gadgets she used. Her hair was tied back with a blue ribbon (indicating she was in a pleasent and calm mood) and had a few loose strands sticking out.
Leaning over the huge cake, practically having her nose touching the icing, she was just finishing off with the second tier of icing flowers and lightly humming to herself when she heard someone knock on the counter in the front. She figured one of the other cooks she had working for her would get it so she kept doing what she was doing, and then she heard the knock again. She called out "Can one of you get that?" and then only slightly annoyed, kept working. Then after a little bit of quiet she heard the knock again and sighed and put down her tools and walked up to the front. She saw a small Weyrbrat standing there looking up at her with an "I'm grown up and on official business" look on his face. Taira looked at him and smiled to herself thinking he reminds her of one of her own. She cleared her throat and thought she'd indulge him and said , "Well hello there young Sir, is there something I can help you with?"
He took a deep breath for confidence (not being aware that Taira saw that, as she smiled to herself) and said, "Sanzia wants to talk to you in her office." (He seemed satisfied that he accomplished his mission)
Taira smiled and said "Alright, thank you for delivering the message."
At first Taira was a little nervous, and slightly curious what her boss wanted but none the less she went back to the back and took her apron off and the ribbon out of her hair and walked to the mirror. She quickly wiped all the flour off her clothes and small bits of batter from her face and when she was satisfied she was clean enough she headed out to Sanzia's office.
Her and Sanzia didn't really know each other very well, which Taira always thought was a shame. As she walked she thought how she only really met Sanzia a few times when she first got promoted and then also at various cooking events. She didn't really know her outside of work.
As she got closer to her Boss's office she worked on clearing her head and lightly knocked on the door. She walked in when she heard Sanzia's voice to come inside and she saw her sitting down at her desk looking over some paperwork. She looked lovely as always and Taira smiled and said, "Hi Sanzia, how are you," and sat down in the chair.

Sanzia took a look at Tairalese before responding. She'd heard rumors that her Headcook liked to wear ribbons in her hair based on her mood, and since hearing that, Sanzia always checked the ribbon and tried to see if it was true. Today, there was no ribbon, and Sanzia filled that away for future reference.
"I'm well, thank you for asking." She responded when her scrutiny was finished. Sanzia smiled.
"So, Tairalese, as you know, our new Dragonriders are arriving soon. I believe that a feast would be appropriate as a welcoming gesture. Now, I know this is short notice, but the date for arriving Dragonriders was only just finalized. What ideas do you have for the menu?"
Sanzia took out a freshly scrapped piece of hide, and a writing utensil. She was proud of her fine handwriting, and showed it off whenever writing was called for, and writing down a menu certainly called for it to be written down.

Taira's eyes lit up and started to smile as dishes flew into her mind. Dishes from Herdbeast to desserts, sauces, mixtures, marinades, pies, cookies, cakes, and before her mind dove into design and colours she realised she was just sitting there in a daze and cleared her throat quickly to snap out of her cooking world and back into reality.
She then realised the task ahead of her and with her boss sitting there in front of her she went immediately from casual, laid-back every day mode and into working mode. She reached around and got a writing utensil and something to write on and pulled out a cool steel-blue coloured ribbon (indicating its time to get down to business) she ties her hair back and starts, "Okay, well I assume we're going to be feeding anywhere from 500 - 1000+ guests so we will need a lot of materials and most importantly we'll need lots of hands in the kitchens to help with everything. It'll probably take a week to get everything cooked and ready for the feast. I can have days 1-3 preparing all the meat and fish and sauces and marinades for everything and then days 4-6 actually saucing and marinating, and stuffing any and everything and I'll start all the baking desserts on day 5, then VERY early in the morning on day 7, practically the night of day 6 we will start the cooking. I'll be putting the final touches on the baking and desserts with our head baker and also over looking all the other chefs and their dishes. I'll talk to my other chefs and work out their scheduals and what they will be preparing and we should have this working asap!"
Taira looks up from her list to look up at Sanzia who is also writing and she smiles, "This will be a huge feast and I hope our new riders will enjoy it! And it's absolutely no problem about the short notice. I've needed a good challenge here lately."
She crosses her legs under her dress and gets a little more comfortable and waits to see if Sanzia had any thoughts or suggestions for anything else the feast would need. She also thought to herself about how much she loved big events like this. Her mind went back to the latest big event she helped cook for. Her mind went immediately to her Weyrmate. She realised this would be the first big anything since he passed. She quickly shook that thought from her mind and sternly told her self to focus on something that was current, not something from her past.
Even though she tried, she still sat oddly quiet. And as she watched Sanzia write, she reached her hand up slowly to let her hair down and retie it with a simple gray ribbon.

When Tairalese reattached her ribbon, Sanzia couldn't stifle her smile. It was like watching a toddler(like her current toddler, actually) thinking of inventive ways to wear her security blanket everywhere. Not that she would ever say anything of the sort to the slightly younger woman. Passing it off age catching up to her, or maybe from being a mother for too long, the woman concentrated on noting down dishes that would work based on the timetable Tairalese had offered.
"I'm glad to know that you are up for a good challenge. I'm noting it down in a notebook, and I'll remind you of those words next time I ask for the impossible." Sanzia smiled, clearly joking.
"But you do need to start soon. I'll come and make sure that the schedule is adhered too, in, perhaps a day? I need to make sure the cleaning effort is back on tract. Vensi and Beena both went into labor and messed up everyone's hours. Make a list of the extra personal you need, and I'll assign extra helpers for the duration. I think we have some likely candidates who could be sent over."
Sanzia continued to speak even as she watched the younger woman exchanged her head ribbon again. This ribbon's stately, and slightly morose coloring made Sanzia want to wrap up the meeting fairly quickly. After all, Sanzia was no good with tears, and if the woman wanted to mourn, she certainly had other friends for that sort of thing.
"Need anything else?"

"Haha, yeah good to know, maybe that'll be the day I come down with a mysterious illness," Taira laughed and smiled at Sanzia's comment. With the bit of comic relief she made more notes and thought of a schedual in her mind and thought of everyone she'd want to help cook and prepare for the feast. After all, some people have better strengths than others.
Finally having her head back to normal and fog-less, she wrapped up her notes and untied her hair and smiled at Sanzia and said, "Okay! I was thinking I could call a meeting with my cooks for tomorrow then start the gathering and preparation that day or the next. So probably within the next 8 or so days we should be ready to have the feast, just let me know which day they arrive!"
She gathered her things and slightly embarrassed at her subtle, yet surely obvious mood swing, she turned to Sanzia and said, "This'll be great, I'll just need to whip my cooks up and firecracker them a bit, haha, they're good cooks just need to make sure they know we're pressed for time and if their hands aren't being used I'll find something for them to do! I've never missed a deadline yet, we'll get it even if I have to crack them around a bit, haha! They'll survive I'm almost sure of it."
Taira smiled and laughed as they walked towards the door leading out of Sanzia's office.
"Let me know if you need anything else, I'll bring by my list tomorrow morning of workers and a proposed schedual of everything for you to look over before the meeting with them if that's alright. Have a good rest of your day!"

Sanzia smiled as Tairalese exited the office, offering pretty words in response to Tairalese's query's, and then, quickly went back to business. The Headwoman was relieved not to have to deal with any sort of melt down, and it was with a light heart that was only slightly shadowed by a niggling sense of guilt that perhaps she should have offered a shoulder to cry upon, that Saniza returned to lists and work schedules.
