Appearance:
Ah, youth. The seventeen turn old has light skin but one would not call him pale. His eyes are brown, shaded by black eyebrows that are well trimmed and shapely. His eyelashes are black but not long. He has a widows peak and black hair that falls between the bottom of his ear and his shoulder. His hair is thick like all in his family, hair that even women wish they had. He has high cheekbones and a great jawline that is made almost perfect in its symetry by the slight cleft in his chin. Although his nose is long, it fits his face well. The tip is large but the shape is quite pleasing to the eye. The skin on his face has no blemishes or scars though he has noticed a few freckles from the sun.
He has a small beauty mark under his left eye but its barely noticeable up close. No one could really see it from a distance. A smirk often accompanies his lovely lips as if he knows something you do not. Heshanen and his brothers all keep in shape doing their chores and practicing swordplay. They have to protect their goods after all. As such, Heshanen has an athletic build where he is not thin or fat but rather in between and well muscled. He is still growing though he towers over most women at 6 feet tall.
The life of a Trader permits one to only have two working outfits. One is always being cleaned and stitched up while wearing the other. His clothes are of good sturdy fabrics and of the usual colors, brown, beige, tan and white. He wears boots to work in because they are sturdy. When not working he doesn't wear shoes at all. He does have callouses on his feet but that does not bother him at all. His shirts are white, loose tunics, often covered with a jacket and brown or tan pants. He prefers his brown pants but they aren't always available.
Personality:
Never judge a book by its cover. The saying is especially true of this handsome youth. He thinks the world of himself, which makes him come off as rude and arrogant. One would think he was charming based on appearances but he is neither charming nor charismatic. In fact he seems distant to most who come across him. When it comes to being told to do things, he's the type to try to get out of something he doesn't want to do. If he still has to do it, he will do it poorly. In those situations he is stubborn. He will do what he thinks is best despite what other people may tell him.
Heshanen is somewhat bad with people. He is better with people in one on one situations but he cannot be trusted. While he may seem like your best friend he can been two faced. He judges everyone based on his first impression of them which is generally negative because of his outlook on all things. If he doesn't like you he will most likely start gossip about you. He'll talk about anything that is negative because he himself is negative.
Not only does he believe the glass is half empty but he knows you drank it and he'll be flamed if you won't pay for it in the end. He is angry at the world but no one can know why. Often his moods become self depricating and sulky. At these times only his brother, Sriebeno can help him out of them. As much at Heshanen is a pessimist his brother is an optimist. His anger, distrust and negativity all come from some place inside him that is hurt a place that few dare to look into.
When Heshanen decides to do something of his own volition it turns out that it is done with such precision and attention to detail that one wouldn't believe he did it. He can work hard and well when he wants to. Like many young people he could do whatever he set his mind to but he has no idea what it is he truly wants to do or have in life. In short he is lost. Part of growing up for him will be finding a way for himself that is not the way that others wish for him to take.
History:
Heshanen's parents were young when married. His mother was seventeen and his father eighteen. Kornoe, his father, was part of a Trading caravan, which he is now leader of. It took many turns to build up to that, so when Heshanen was growing up, he went without things that many children in the holds or the Weyrs would consider essential. His older sister was a sweet girl who tried to take him under her wing as she did all of her siblings. His mother Asinza was a beautiful woman, with high cheekbones and a straight nose, thick wavy hair. She unlike, his father had a pale skin. It is from her that he acquired his looks. His father has a coarse wiry dark hair and tan skin.
Unfortunately he did not much care for his parents growing up. They had little time for his sulky moods or for his ill humor. He grew up with his brothers and sisters, in a large caravan that got larger with each turn. They traded everything that a person could want. The merchants of the road, as Heshanen called them. They'd do anything to turn a profit. Money was necessary to life in their world. Though the children were taught nothing of the ballads, they heard stories from people when they passed through cotholds and even major holds.
Heshanen was closest with his younger brother, Sriebeno. They often were found playing together instead of doing chores. Sriebeno had a dream of being a dragonrider and he was going to drag Heshanen to the Weyr with him when he was Searched. It was a pretty notion but they both knew father had other plans for the pair of them. Leading their own caravans was among them. While Heshanen was a mostly obedient child he did get into trouble on occassion. Generally these incidences were seen as boyish antics and went mostly unpunished.
His mother and sisters spent most of their time with patching up worn clothes, washing them, cleaning and making food. His father had other chores for Heshanen and his brothers. They took care of the hardy runnerbeasts that pulled the wagons, repaired broken wagons, helped with taking care of anything that had to do with what they were trading and most importantly protecting the wagons from thieves.
The turns seemed to go by quickly for Heshanen. His sister told them of her proposal of marraige from one of the other Traders but not until father had already practically agreed to it. Heshanen did not wish to see her go but she had accepted that her fate was that of a wife, living the life their mother had taught her to live. Heshanen would not have known that her husband could be ambitious, vying for his own position in the Trade caravan, The beauty of it was, Heshanen cared little to be a leader of a Caravan in fact he inwardly wished that he had been allowed to take a craft and go somewhere completely different. This was his father's life, not his, that he was living.
As a teenager he began to grow more and more restless. While his brother was often the only person he confided in, he was finding it more and more difficult to hide his frustration with life. Another influence on his life at this time was his crush, Annalene. Her family ran a caravan north to Lemos. She had pale skin with blue eyes and yellow/gold hair. The first person he had ever seen of that coloring and so he found it awing. They only spoke for a few candlemarks but that was more than enough for him to find himself in love. Or what he thought was love. She was kind and a good listener. As he complained about life she asked him why he focused on the negative when there were good things in his life as well. Each occupation has its ups and downs. Of course all good things must come to an end. The next day she was gone.
His outlook on life is changing as he gets older, understands responsibility more but one could say he is still a pessimist. If something bad can happen it probably will. His brother Sriebeno is the opposite which is probably why the two of them are still as thick as thieves at seventeen. (Will add more when officially Searched)
