The Weyr was busy with the comings and goings of caverns workers. A bulk of whom were carrying things into a the Weyrwoman's Weyr. The last occupant had a different taste in furnishings than Quinn had. Most of the room had looked dark. Now she was making it bright and airy, as she liked things to be. "Careful with that, it was made before your father was born." She added as one of the men nearly dropped her favorite chair. It had been reupholstered to her taste. The light cream fabric had gold threads woven in and out on the back, showing the profile of a dragon's head.
She was speaking with her personal drudge when someone dropped her armoire which came down in a thundering crash that could be heard reverberating off the walls, throughout the rider's weyrs. Oh dear. Quinn stared blankly at what used to be her armoire. The wooden doors were smashed and the feet were, well unrepairable. "I think we should take a break..." Her voice was all too calm and collected. Are you alright? I heard the crash. Tarasaith peeked her large head into the weyr they shared from where she had been sunning on her new ledge.
Fine love, just have a broken armoire.The pretty one that E'rion's brother made for you? She could only nod. The death of E'rion was a hard one for her. He had been her friend for well over sixteen turns and was the father of her first child. He had always taken time to be kind to her when others were cruel. Now something she had left from him was gone. Eriquinn would be sad, knowing that Quinn was going to give it to her when she got her own space at Fort. Too late now. Quinn watched the others in the room, the workers were chatting among themselves though the man who dropped the armoire seemed to be nervous, fearing the worst.
"Do any of you know someone who can work wood? I'd like to try to have this repaired, even if it seems that it cannot be fixed. I'm not really an expert at woodworking so I could not say. In the meantime I think it best we leave the armoire where it is and bring the bed in. I'd like it over there, with the head against the far wall."

I really do not feel like meeting anyone today. I have yet to fully unpack, and I am afraid I do not have the patience to deal with a new queenrider today. Especially if she's as dumb as Suvria. T'boren muttered to his dragon, making his way to Quinn's apartments despite his complaining. He knew it was his duty to introduce himself first thing, but he was tired, hot, and in need of some good pondering time. He knew when the wings were assembled he wouldn't have more than a few hours at a time to himself. He planned to work his wing hard, even in this blistering heat of Igen. But RiderMine, I can unpack for you. You must meet our new queen!
T'boren snorted at that, You'd sooner destroy everything I own with those claws of yours. Just stay on that ledge, I'm already here. He was pushed out of the way by movers and was nearly ran over by two men carrying a chair. He no sooner stepped in the room when he heard a loud crash. He flinched slightly at the noise, and knowing that if she were as materialistic and tempremental as other queenriders he knew, the next few moments would not be pretty. However, he was surprised when no explosion came. Just a calm answer from a woman who could only be the Weyrwoman. Peculiar...
He stepped closer, close enough to hear her ask about a wood worker. With his hands folded behind his back he approached her, "I could fix it, if you so desired, however, if you wanted it back in working order, you might want to call upon a professional crafter. I fear that if I were to fix it, the doors would no longer open, none of the feet would be the same size, and it's color would be hideous."
The bronzerider offered a small smile, "I am T'boren, of Norvanth, formerly of Benden Weyr. It is a pleasure that we finally meet. I confess I have not heard much about you, but I assume you are the Weyrwoman Quinn of the gold Tarasaith? If you'd like, I can search out a crafter immediately."

Unfortunately Quinn was unprepared to meet anyone in that moment. She was still in her leathers and the litttle hair she did have was in two small braids to keep it out of her face. She looked a dragonrider through and through. Her leathers were chocolate brown and her boots matched. It would be easy to spot her in a crowd of drudges.
Quinn turned to see the man who had begun to speak to her. She knew without asking that he was a dragonrider. The man seemed amiable enough, so she smiled in response to his offer. "If it weren't a going to be a keepsake I wouldn't be bothering. Many thanks to you sir, but I think it would be best if we had a wood crafter fix it. I can have a drudge send for one. There is no need for you to waste your time." She watched him introduce himself and nodded.
"Well met T'boren. My compliments to your Norvanth. Sorry you did come at a busy time..."She looked over at where they were placing the bed. Did she have to oversee everything? "Excuse me a moment." Quinn walked toward the bed and reiterated that she wanted it pointing toward where Tarasaith slept. That way they could see eachother. Silly humans, they don't have much sense around you.Something about the title worries them. I may need to announce that I won't chew their heads off if they do something wrong, they will simply have to redo it. At least the Bronzeriders have reported in. True. She spoke quietly with her personal drudge and then walked back over to the Bronzerider.
With a smile she said, "T'boren, would you like to carry on our conversation down the hall in the meeting room?" She was sure he would have questions about the wing and when he could get started and what she was expecting. She was at the moment, Weyrwoman and Weyrleader, since it would be a month before Tarasaith was due to fly.

He nodded as she walked away. The bronzerider watched her carefully, trying to judge her character. To him, goldriders were guilty until proven innocent, though she was nothing what he expected. While she was feminine, she had not taken dressing like a Lady first priority. She was in leathers like an admirable, hardworking dragonrider. She was firm with the workers but not demanding like a diva. Could he be wrong about her? Probably not, this was their first meeting and she still had time to prove she matched his preconceived notions. Still more interesting that Suvria, that was for sure.
When she came to speak to him again, he took in a breath and nodded, "As you wish milady," and motioned for her to lead the way. He did have a few things to ask her about.
As they came to the hallway, he again folded his hands behind his back. "I admit, I am not a small talk sort of man, so now that we have exchanged pleasantries, I have a few questions. Naturally I might have asked the Weyrleader, but since there is none for the moment, you will know better than anyone else." He offered her a polite smile, he really meant no offense, as he was merely a bluntly speaking individual. He looked at the floor and then right into her eyes, "First off, have the wings been decided yet? And secondly, when do you think the proper time would be to start practices? Three days? A sevenday? I am quite anxious to be in good practice."

Quinn was used to being a Junior so all of this new responsibility was going to be partly a learning experience. No Goldrider on Pern had the amount of pressure she had on her shoulders at this moment. Every Weyr had a Weyrleader, except hers. She knew that most of leading was about delegating well and listening to the opinions of others before coming to a conclusion. She would take the advice of these Wingleaders of hers before deciding on anything to do with the Wings. She had experience enough with the Weyrwoman aspect of the Weyr but anything to do with fighting wings, she had been kept away from.
Walking down the hallway she turned right into the meeting room. It was not far at all from her own weyr and the records room. That was on purpose, she had learned. The Weyrwoman had many long nights in both the records room and the meeting room. She took a seat at the head of the table and watched him follow. Quinn had not been ignoring his questions she simply wanted a better place to talk. The hallway was rife with drudges who would be quick to wag their tongues about anything and everything.
"The wings were decided before I left Fort. Weyrleader Ch'vol helped me with that. We are going to start with two wings of about twenty four riders including the Wingleader. Your wing is Imperium Wing. I've instructed Tarasaith that all riders are to report to their Wingleaders upon arriving, she is also giving them their Wign assignments so it should not be too difficult for them. I know that both you and D'tas are ready to get drills going, you may want to meet up to discuss times. I would really like for the Wings to practice together a couple times before the next Threadfall in upper Igen.In fact, if you or D'tas would be kind enough to inform me when you hold those, Tarasaith would like to practice as well. I'd say, since the support staff will be ready to go by tomorrow, that you can start drills as soon as you like. The sooner the better actually. Don't want the dragons to get lazy in this heat do we?" She was excited. The mention of Threadfall had made her eyes glitter with it.
Tarasaith paid attention as soon as she knew her rider was speaking of her. Drills with the boys? The Queen hadn't done that since Weyrlinghood but it Quinn thought it would be good for them.It will be good for us and them. You my darling, are the hope of the Weyr. You are the leader and to see you practicing with the rest will make them love you all the more. They will all love us. Most of the drudges already do. Seems there are rumors about you already. One of the greens was telling me earlier. Of course Tarasaith would be thrilled. She disliked other Golds but got along swell with all other dragon colors and here, she was the only Gold.

Airy stood in front of her mirror and unwrapped her wet hair, burshed through it and tossed her tail on her bed and put her brush on her dresser. She took one last look at herself and started walking to the Wyerhall. She was stoped short by an open door which led to her wingleaders room. She noticed the room was empty.
Airy leaned against the wall and pursed her lip togther wondering were he was, she wanted to intraduce herself and also wanted to see what he looked like. She knew she still had lots of unpacking to do but once she and her dragon had got there that day they had both crashed while the movers brought her stuff up. When she woke up she saw Jemth was still sleeping and she didn't want to wake her, so she went to bathe and go to the weyrhall, but aparently she didn't make it that far.
Airy sat down of the floor as she waited for her wingleader to come back. She ran her fingers through her wet hair and started playing with the necklace her mother gave her, as she let her mind wonder.
````````````````````````````````````` Mewhile back her he room Jemth woke up to a room without Airy. Jemth stood up and took a deep breath, she smelled her riders batheing salts and she new right away her rider had taken a bath then left to go somewhere, but where she was not sure.
Jemth closed her eyes and purredas she contaced her rider Where are you my little one. I missed you when you left.Airy rolled her eyes, smiled and ssighed as her rather protective dragon contacted her dear sweet Jemth I am fine. I am waiting for my wing leader to return so that I may meet him and intraduce myself to him. Jemth opened her eyes and purred even louder as an idea came into her head If you like I can tell his dragon that you are looking for him.
Airy's eyes went wide as she heard what relized what her dragon had said. She tried to say no but it was too late.
Jemth contacted her wingleader the bronze Norvanth my dear Norvanth if you don't mind telling your rider when he has a chance that my rider is looking for him so she may intraduce herself to him.
Airy smacked herself on the forhead as her dargon talked to her wingleaders dragon. She groweled and started wimppering to herself Thanks Jemth
He nodded as she spoke about how she and Weyrleader Ch'vol split up the wings. It was rational, and he didn't doubt the other bronzerider's intellect. Not that he doubted the goldrider's, but he was reserving judgment on her. When she spoke of her wish to join practice, he half opened his mouth to protest, but shut it quickly. She was an interesting Weyrwoman indeeed. Suvria would have been much to busy doing Faranth knows what to even observe practice, much less join in. Even Weyrwoman Ramilda stayed away from thread practice. He was slightly, er, quite impressed that she showed interest in his work. He gave her a rather genuine smile, "As you wish, milady."
Before he could say anything more, Norvanth entered his thoughts, Mine, Greenrider Airy wishes to speak to you. What should I tell Jemth?
Uh, yes, she'll be checking in, I suppose. Well, tell her I'm in the meeting room, would you?
Airy sat ther against the wall with her eyes closed debating weather she should leave or stay and wait for her wingleader now. She felt her face was bright red and she wanted to disapper into the wall but she coul not.
Jemth heard what her wingleader had said and purred as she contacted Airy Airy love Norvanth says that his is in the meeting room. What would you like me to tell him. Airy opened her eyes and smlied Well my dear green now that you have somewhat embrassed me I guess you should tell him that i will wait right here form him to come back.
Jemth snorted in amusement at her rider. She then contacted Norvanth again Norvanth if you don't mind telling your rider that mine will wait for him to come back. Also that he can take his time, Airy dosen't mind waitting. Airy put her face in her hands and sighed as her dragon once again talked to her wingleaders dragon to him she would be waiting for him.
The Goldrider was trying to use this meeting to assess the Wingleader and so far she was pleased. Both he and D'tas were well recommended for their positions. They were both taking this opportunity to make the best of Igen and make a place for themselves here. So far she had heard nothing indicating displeasure at being here. If she had, she would have spoken with Ch'vol and perhaps found more willing Bronzeriders. With T'boren and D'tas it seemed they had chosen well.
After his reply she smiled in return. "Glad to have you with us, T'boren. At the moment the only issue we are having is the number of people in the Lower Caverns. Would you do me a favor and watch your riders. I need Search riders and I need them as soon as possible. This will be discussed in detail next week. Tarasaith will inform Norvanth of the meeting date and time. Now, I had better get going and I'm guessing you have something pressing to attend to as well." She noted the far off look a rider got when talking to his dragon in the man's eyes.
Quinn stood and walked toward the doorway. She had plenty to do today. If the drudges had managed to get her room right then it was off to the Candidate Barracks. Quinn had to make sure they were fit for living then speak to Sanzia. Then she had some messages to send. Perhaps Fort could spare a couple dragonhealers. She would reccommend her own daughter but and apprentice was not exactly someone of knowledge in a craft. Maybe she could come with a couple Journeyman. This only made her think of more things to do as she headed down the hall back to her weyr.
